When do you determine it’s time for a change in your career or life? Here’s a few triggers to help your thought process. The key is knowing when to move your thoughts to actions and make a productive change in your life for the better.
- It’s Hard to Get Out of Bed
If you find that you’re dragging yourself to a job that you used to jump out of bed for, this is a huge warning signal. While there are some things in your control– you can improve, you may find some things are not. Good time to sit down with yourself and evaluate.
- When Your Stress Affects Other Areas of Your Life
You may not realize it, but your stress affects everyone around you, not just you. Are your family and friends walking on eggshells when you’re around? Life is too short. Ask yourself the question, “What is Really Going On in My Life?” and allow your mind the time to identify the reasons. Then address the stress!
- You’re Sick A Lot
If you find yourself getting sick a lot, headaches, stomach aches, breaking out in hives — this is a good time to determine if any of this is stress related. My little brother is a big proponent that “your health is your wealth.” He’s right — all the money in the world cannot buy good health. Look at ways you can reduce OR better yet eliminate the things causing you angst.
- Being Negative Becomes a Habit
If you find yourself seeing only the negative aspects of life, trust me, you are not FUN to be around. While family and friends are there to be supportive, after too much of this– they are tolerating you. A friend of mine was on this “whoa is me” track and one evening at dinner I chose to count the number of negatives he spewed during this time frame. At the end of dinner, as gently as I could, I pointed out –not sure he was aware that over the last 60 minutes, 10 negative comments were made and 0 positives. The look on his face was one of surprise. He apologized for being such a downer and as a result became more aware of his conversations. Is this you?
- When the Discomfort Becomes Intolerable
We see many people come to us for franchise advice, when they have just had it. Their job or life has become so intolerable and there is so much pain that they are ready to make a change. While this is good in one way, it can also cause folks to make rash decisions and want to rush into the first thing that comes along. Our advice is to take a step back. This is a good time to take inventory of your goals and the things that are important to you before jumping into something else.
